Connecticut Ballet Announces 30th Anniversary Season

Connecticut Ballet began its 30th anniversary season with a first-ever statewide summer tour. Artistic Director and Founder Brett Raphael explained the ballet’s plans and unveiled a specially commissioned 30th anniversary poster at a May 19 press conference in Hartford. The 30th anniversary season includes an expanded schedule at the Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts and Stamford Center for the Arts, in addition to appearances at Ridgefield Playhouse, Katherine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center in Old Saybrook, and ten community outreach performances in the greater Hartford region funded by Hartford Foundation for Public Giving.

Raphael said, “What better way to reach out and perform for virtually all the citizens of Connecticut than over the course of a summer tour? Together with our fourth annual Riverfront Recapture appearance and with vital support from our tour sponsors, CL&P/Yankee Gas and Capezio Balletmakers, we will kick off the 30th season with a mixed bill of classical, dramatic, and contemporary ballets all presented free to audiences in Middletown, Greenwich, New London, Westport, Danbury, Hartford, and Litchfield.”

Hartford artist Brian Cook was commissioned to create a poster to commemorate the 30th anniversary. The poster will be framed and gifted to selected libraries, arts organizations, public schools, and college campuses throughout the state over the course of the season. Interested venues may request a framed poster for their facility by emailing the ballet [email protected] or sending a letter on company or institutional letterhead to Connecticut Ballet, 99 Pratt St, Ste 206, Hartford, CT 06103.
