Bond with Your Unborn Baby

Authors have long written about the physical and emotional benefits of practicing yoga. Some have written about the relationship with self, in that a single act of self-nurture can significantly shift both the human form and the emotional health of the practitioner. What is less often written about is the benefit yoga brings to relationships. In particular, the most complex relationship imaginable: that between a mother and her unborn child.

Mothers are nourishing a new being. So when she practices yoga, she is breathing for two and being present for two. The baby can sense this presence. This goes for both moms and dads. Baby senses everything and knows who surrounds and supports mom. It’s true, according to a study by the University of Michigan. When a mother self-supports and fills up the well through time spent in mindful practice of yoga and meditation, she will best be able to serve and connect with her baby in-utero and out. What an opportunity!
