Yoga Teacher Training… not just for Teachers

Yoga Teacher Training… not just for Teachers

Starting in September, Journey of Yoga in Simsbury will be offering its next 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training (YTT). Don’t be fooled by the name of it though. According to owner Maggie Knoedler Rueda, about 40% of graduates choose not to become teachers—they take the training simply to deepen their own practice.

They course teaches the following:

· The fascinating background, philosophy and history of yoga

· How to integrate sound alignment principles and get the most benefit from asana practice.

· Multiple ways to relax and calm the body with breathing techniques, meditation and mantras

· Anatomy and Physiology to understand the basics of the physical body and how to best stretch muscles and tissues

· Ayurveda, the sister science of yoga, to understand their body holistically as well as how to balance it with the right foods, specific yoga postures and daily activities.

Students say the best benefit is the transformational experience. For those interested in more information, there will be a YTT Meet and Greet on Monday, June 30, from 6 to 8 p.m. This session will begin with yoga class and will be followed by an overview with Q&A.
